Get to Know Us

We, Jayme and Kelly, share a love of pediatric physical therapy and begin our collaboration as Soulshine Pediatric Therapy with a combined 26 years of experience as therapists.  Soulshine was born in the summer of 2022 when our families relocated to Charleston and we met each other as new neighbors on our Johns Island cul-de-sac.  We are both called to unlock the potential in every child, and we are thrilled to create Soulshine Pediatric Therapy to serve the children and families of the Sea Islands and surrounding communities.

She is currently employed with Pattison’s Academy working as a PT in the school, outpatient, and natural environment settings. Kelly is excited to start Soulshine Pediatric Therapy with her neighbor, Jayme Jarrett.

Kelly graduated from Wake Forest University with a BS in Exercise Science. She then earned a MS in Exercise Physiology from UNCGreensboro, writing her thesis on Metabolic Specificity in Kids. She furthered her education by completing her Masters degree in Physical Therapy from East Carolina University. Kelly has worked as a pediatric physical therapist in a variety of settings including the school system, acute care, home health/natural environment, and outpatient clinics. She has also taught yoga classes for children and holds a 200-hour yoga teacher training certificate with a specialty certification for teaching kids yoga. Kelly has taken continuing education classes including torticollis, kids yoga, and prenatal/postpartum yoga.

She enjoys working with kids outside of physical therapy and has coached children of all ages in swimming and running. Kelly loves working with children and helping them achieve their fullest potential. She feels that children thrive when given opportunities to succeed. She enjoys the constant energy that her pediatric patients bring to therapy and is passionate about helping them achieve their goals!

In her free time, Kelly enjoys running and training for distance races, teaching and practicing yoga, and keeping up with her 3 active teenage boys! Kelly is enjoying exploring all that Charleston has to offer and loves living so close to the beach! She is a huge sports fan and her favorite teams are the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Wake Forest Demon Deacons.

My passion for working with children began at a young age when I volunteered with special education programs, coached youth sports, and babysat. In 2014, I earned my Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Wellness from Arizona State University.  After taking some working in the wellness industry as a personal trainer, yoga teacher, and aquatic exercise instructor, I decided to pursue a degree as a Physical Therapist Assistant.  Since graduating, I have had the opportunity to work with children of all ages and diagnoses in various settings, including homes, clinics, aquatic centers, and schools.  I find inspiration in the bravery of the children and families I work with; they remind me that anything is possible.

As a mom and therapist, I completely understand how challenging it can be to juggle all of life's demands. That's why I think it's essential to make therapy enjoyable and integrate it into everyday routines.  By doing this, we can reduce stress levels, encourage greater participation, and help children achieve their goals.  I genuinely believe that this approach can make a real difference in the lives of the families that I work with, and I feel incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to do so.

When I moved to Charleston in June of 2022 from NC, I knew it was finally time to fulfill my dream of building my own pediatric therapy practice.  Starting Soulshine with my partner and neighbor, Kelly, has been an incredible collaborative journey thus far, and I am excited to see the impact we can make in our local community.

Outside of Soulshine, I love spending time with my husband and 9-year-old daughter and doing all sorts of fun activities together.  We enjoy doing crafts, going camping, and hitting the waves for some surfing.  And when we're not out and about, I love playing with and snuggling my two energetic pups.  Spending time with Family and friends is so important to me, and I cherish every moment we get to spend together.
